Clafoutis with Cherries – Bring France Home

Welcome to France!

If you don‘t have the opportunity to visit the country of wine and love, then just bring France into your home through a magnificent, tasty and extremely easy traditional French dessert, namely  Clafoutis with cherries! I offer you my version of this dessert, and you can boldly experiment with it!

Here’s what you need:

  1. 3 spoons melted butter
  2.  3 cups cherries, pitted
  3.  3 big eggs
  4. 2⁄3 cup sugar
  5. 1 tablespoon vanilla
  6. 1⁄2 cup flour
  7. 200ml whipping cream
  8.  ½  cup milk
  9. An almond essence (you can safely replace with champagne, whiskey, cognac or some alcohol you have). A few drops are enough.
  10.  Pinch of salt

Next products are my upgrade of the original recipe – a chocolate (what is a dessert without sweet, melting fine chocolate) and petals fragrant peppermint.

Dot the cherries (stoned, if you prefer) around the base of the dish. Mix the products with a mixer until you get a smooth, pancake-like mixture by the eggs, then adding the sugar, and then alternating between the milk and cream. Next are salt, vanilla and essence (alcohol). Optionally, drop a few chopped mint leaves (you will not regret). Meanwhile, grease a 30cm round baking dish with the softened butter. Pour the mixture over the cherries carefully and add more chocolate to small pieces. Bake in a 180-degree oven for about 35-40 minutes. Now turn it carefully into a beautiful plate and, after cooling, sprinkle it with powdered sugar. From now on, use your imagination and decorate it at your will!20100815clafoutis_big-thumb-625xauto-105854

For better results, use products with room temperature!

You can replace the cherries with any other fruit according to the season, the result is always excellent, and if you want to have more fun, you can caramelize sugar at the bottom of the tray and top up the cherries.

Now, after the Clafoutis is ready, you only have to put some French chansons on and pour a glass of good wine, and here you are in France! And LIFE is wonderful!
